WANT TO ORDER A C8 CORVETTE TODAY? WAIT 18 MONTHS

Expect Long Wait Times After 2021 Corvette Production Starts In November

We all know the C8 Corvette hasn’t had an easy life so far. It was riddled with production delays even before the Coronavirus pandemic gave a massive blow to the whole industry. Still, the jump to the 2021 model year gave hope the productions woes would be in the past for Corvette fans and prospective buyers alike. But unfortunately, from some insider dealer information provided by Chevy Dude on YouTube, it appears the troubles aren’t totally behind us. Immense back up of orders means if you were to order a 2021 Chevrolet Corvette today, you would have to wait up to 18 months for your C8 to finally be delivered.

This mainly comes from the fact that GM hasn’t been able to build all that many C8 Corvettes yet. GM has bumped plenty of 2020 orders to the 2021 model year, creating a vast buildup of 2021 orders. Even without delays, and there could be more depending on how the pandemic plays out, customers are looking at a 12-18 month wait to put in an order today. The 2021 Ford Bronco is experiencing similar wait times.

While it seems appealing to find a workaround, Chevy Dude said in the video it’s probably not worth swapping dealers to get ahead. If you’re at the 15th spot in line at dealer A, you would lose you spot in line switching to dealer B, and potentially have to wait even longer.

Still, given what a special car the C8 Corvette is, and what upgrades the 2021 model year brings to the table, it’s probably worth the wait if you’ve been considering a mid-engined Corvette. The 2021 Corvette gets Red Mist Metallic Tintcoar and Silver Flare as two new color options, along with some new stripe packages. A Cool Sky Gray and Yellow Strike interior color is also new for 2021. Magnetic ride control also becomes a standalone option; last year it was only available with the Z51 Performance Package. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also becomes standard.

All of this comes at the same $59,995 base price of 2020.
