Although Tesla fans will fight this forever, nobody has a more capable semi autonomous driving system that General Motors with Super Cruise. Coupled with familiar radar cruise control and lane keep assist, Super Cruise maps major US highways to allow for true hands free driving for limited periods of time. And if any vehicle in the GM portfolio was built for Super Cruise, it’s the Cadillac Escalade, which has gotten a full redesign for 2021. Now, Cadillac has put Super Cruise on the Escalade configurator, so we know how much you’ll have to pay for it.
The answer is $2,500, but it’s not as simple as just checking the option box. Firstly, it’s not available on the base Luxury trim level at all, so you’ll need to step up to Premium Luxury or higher. On Premium Luxury, you’ll need to add the Driver Assist Tech Package and Performance Package to get Super Cruise. All together, you’re looking at a rather significant $8,850 to get the feature on this trim level. The cost of entry is slightly better on the Sport trim because it comes with the Performance Package as standard, but you’ll still need to fork out $6,150.
Move up to the Premium Luxury Platinum and Sport Platinum trims, and all the required packages come as standard, so you’ll just need to add Super Cruise for $2,500. While you may think it’s better just to step up to the top line trims if you want the system, those trim levels start at $101,290 for standard wheelbase, a hefty chunk more than a near $93,000 Premium Luxury or Sport model with all the required packages. Pricing for long wheelbase 2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV models is respectively more expensive, but follows the same basic pricing breakdown.
But the cost to get Super Cruise on the 2021 Cadillac Escalade in the first place isn’t the only time you’ll be paying for it. Buyers get a three year trial, but after that, the price bumps up to $25 per month. We can’t imagine too many Escalade owners will shed a tear in their already expensive land yachts, but it’s still something to consider.
