Production of the 2021 Corvette has come to a close, with a final count of 26,216 units produced. Despite sporadic production stemming from the global microchip shortage and other supplier-related issues, hat’s a 28.7% increase from the 2020 model year, which of course, was affected by COVID. Details on the 2021 model year were shared by Corvette Production Manager Harlan Charles during the National Corvette Museum’s 27th Anniversary Celebration. As the sun has set on the 2021 model year, customers eagerly await deliveries of the 2022 C8 Corvette, along with the capstone IMSA GTLM Championship Edition. As a reminder, the upcoming C8 Z06 is a 2023 model year Corvette.

2021 Corvette Stingray: Model Year Sales Stats
According to the final statistics posted by Corvette Blogger for the 2021 C8 Corvette Stingray,, 11,010 buyers chose the hardtop convertible model, while 15,206 opted for the standard coupe.
Despite the hardtop convertible model adding $7,500 to the price, the number of people opting for the model wasn’t surprising to Harlan Charles. Of those Convertible models, 52% purchased the 3LT trim, 40% chose the 2LT, and 8% chose the base model. In contrast, 47% of Coupe buyers purchased the 2LT, with 33% opting for the 3LT and 20% selected the base 2021 Corvette Convertible.
Sales numbers for the Corvette convertible haven’t been this high since 1969, and that’s thanks to the introduction of the hardtop convertible, which can raise or lower in only 16 seconds.
2022 Corvette Stingray Assembly Has Begun
The Bowling Green Assembly Plant manages to output 175 vehicles a day, and at their rate, they should have finished their 2021 model year production on September 8th. The assembly plant still faces limited supply issues, but they have been working uninterrupted for the past 13 weeks, and we hope they continue to have this output for the 2022 Corvette.
Even with the uninterrupted production, there is still a high demand for the C8 Corvette, and prices remain high within the new and used market, as people continue to try and get their hands on this American Supercar. But those who have ordered a 2022 model may receive their orders in the near future.
