It is no secret that the majority of automakers are always engaged in trying to modernize their vehicles and embrace new technologies. This isn’t the case with Dodge however, specifically when you look at their muscle car lineup. Both the Dodge Charger and Challenger are about as old school as it gets, perhaps making them the only true muscle cars still on the market today. This isn’t something that the company tries to hide either, rather they tend to embrace the old school nature of these machines at every opportunity. This is made evident by their retro styling and vintage-inspired paint lineup, which look reminiscent of the high-era of the segment. Now though, 2021 Dodge Charger owners will have a chance to spec a fan-favorite color for the first time: Gold Rush.

The Gold Rush color made its initial debut on the Dodge Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition, as a way to honor the “golden anniversary” of the muscle car icon. Fans fell in love with the color, which led Dodge to offer it on the Challenger for the 2021 model year. But it appears they didn’t want to leave out their four-door buyers, and have decided to roll the retro hue out for the 2021 Dodge Charger as well. This comes after a record sales year for the four-door muscle car, which has led the full-size sedan segment in the U.S. for eight consecutive years now.

“The customer response to the Dodge Challenger Gold Rush exceeded our expectations,” said Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis. “We’re sticking to that successful Dodge formula of proliferating our most popular options across the lineup and giving Charger customers, who want the Gold Rush color, the option to have it on their four-door muscle car.”

The Gold Rush hue will be available for order on 2021 Dodge Charger R/T, Scat Pack, Scat Pack Widebody, SRT Hellcat, and SRT Hellcat Redeye models. The paint color does require customers to spec a Satin Black hood, roof, and rear decklid, but the contrasted look is rather handsome indeed. The Gold Rush joins an ever-growing lineup of vintage colors on offer for the Dodge Charger, including Frostbite, Hellraisin, Sinamon Stick, TorRed, F8 Green and Go Mango.

If you are interested in ordering up a Gold Rush 2021 Dodge Charger, your local dealer will be able to help with that this spring. The Charger might not look as much like its ancestor as the Challenger, but that doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate this effort from Dodge. Too many cars on the road today, especially sedans, are only offered in muted colors. For that reason, any exciting new paint option for this unabashed muscle car is a welcome addition in our book.
