The 2021 GMC Canyon mid-size pickup got its mid-cycle update this year before an all-new model replaces it, along with the Chevrolet Colorado, in a few years. While the changes are minor, they still provide a compelling update to the truck. Chief amongst these changes is the introduction of the new AT4 trim level, which represents GMC’s off-road focused trim lineup across the model range. Along with that new model, the entire trim system has been simplified to three main versions, and there are some small styling updates. Now, GMC has launched the configurator for the 2021 Canyon, and you can spec out your ideal truck.

2021 GMC Canyon Elevation

At base level, there’s the Elevation Standard trim offered in rear wheel drive only. This models starts at $27,596 for the extended single cab. To stay cheap, it only gets the $630 Convenience package as a standalone option on this model. Opting for the Elevation trim opens up the chance to choose the High Elevation package, which adds power and heated leather seats and a heated steering wheel for $1,400. All models Elevation and up can also get a Bose sound system. All Elevation trims can either get the 2.5 liter four cylinder or 3.6 liter V6. All other trim levels only get the V6.

The AT4 is where our money would go. Buyers can either choose the AT4 Cloth ($39,395) or AT4 Leather ($41,195) trims, with both giving off-road features like advanced four wheel drive, all-terrain tires, and a more aggressive exterior design. Options are limited to some exterior appearance packages, protection packages, and safety equipment. We’d definitely choose the $1,850 Power Package, which adds a performance intake and cat back exhaust. The Power Package is available across the trim lineup.

2021 GMC Canyon Denali

In true GMC fashion, the Denali remains at the top of the lineup, with a starting price of $45,595. If you aren’t careful with the options and accessories, a Canyon Denali can climb to over $50,000. That’s big money for a mid-size pickup, which is why we would opt for the off-road oriented AT4 model that can get all of the Denali options, but with a slightly less luxurious feel. It’s also worth noting the color palette for the 2021 GMC Canyon is rather limited across the range, so if you’re looking for more options it may be better to check out the 2021 Chevy Colorado.
