Ram is continuing to up its work truck game with a new factory snow plow prep package, available for a number of 2021 Ram 1500 models. Ram revealed the option at the National Truck Equipment Association’s (NTEA) in Indianapolis.
The kit includes everything you need to plow, except for the plow itself. For only $195, Ram adds a 220-amp alternator, truck-side plow wiring harness and a rear power sliding window with defroster. The lower air dam is removed to make room for the plow harness. All of these are optional accessories, but Ram makes it easy by offering all of this from the factory.
The package is available on several Ram models, not just the cheaper ones. On offer is the 2021 Ram 1500 Tradesman, Big Horn and Laramie 4×4 models, with the 5.7-liter Hemi V8, 5.7-liter HEMI eTorque V8, or 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine.
Ram says the kit helps build its presence in the work truck market. Customers at a variety of price points can now have an easy way to begin plowing. While the timing of this announcement is a little odd, it is still a great package for next winter.
This is the first announcement to come for the 2021 model year Ram 1500, although we don’t expect too many major changes for this year. Recently, Ram re-introduced the EcoDiesel engine, and rolled out the Multifunction tailgate that opens three ways. Ram’s also been busy with introducing various appearance packages for its breadwinning half-ton pickup truck. These include: the Ram 1500 Night Edition on both the Bighorn and Laramie trim levels, as well as the Black appearance package for the Ram 1500 Rebel.
The fifth-generation Ram 1500 also boasts segment-exclusive air suspension that can lift and lower the ride height of the vehicle based on demands for either improved aerodynamics or added ground clearance. Finally, the 2021 Ram 1500 is the only pickup truck with an available 12-inch touchscreen. The Ram 1500 features up to 12,750 pounds of towing capability and 2,300 pounds of payload.
