The Ford Maverick is shaping up to be a successful vehicle launch by Ford, with the company receiving well over 100,000 orders for the vehicle. However, of those orders, it’s hard to say what specs are the most popular, and there are many options to choose from for the Maverick. From trim level to engine choice, coloring, packages, and what states the orders are placed within.
Ford Maverick: Early Trim & Engine Statistics
Luckily, the Maverick Truck Club – an all Ford Maverick forum – has an order tracking list where members can submit their order configurations. With over 4,000 orders, they have plenty of data to see the most popular options. Starting with the trim levels, the XLT trim is the most popular choice, with 51.3% of Mavericks spec’d this way. Next is the Lariat trim with 29.1%, the XL with 12.7%, and the First Edition with 6.9%. The Ford Maverick offers two engine options: the 2.5-liter Hybrid, which only comes in front-wheel drive and 2,000 lbs of towing capability; or the 2.0-liter Ecoboost, which offers all-wheel drive and the potential to tow 4,000 pounds. 62.4% of orders from forum members opted for the (sold-out) Ford Maverick Hybrid, while 37.6% ordered the EcoBoost four cylinder turbo.
Ford’s smallest pickup truck on sale has a plethora of color options to choose from, 11 to be exact, and of those 11, Area 51 is the most popular, with 20.4% of orders featuring the color. The other color options are as follows:
- Velocity Blue – 15.5%
- Cactus Gray – 13.8%
- Carbonized Gray – 12.3%
- Alto Blue – 9.7%
- Hot Pepper Red – 6.6%
- Oxford White – 5.7%
- Iconic Silver – 5.0%
- Shadow Black – 4.4%
- Cyber Orange – 3.8%
- Rapid Red – 2.9%
Ford offers four options for Wheels on the Maverick, and the most popular choice seems to be the 17″ Painted Aluminum Wheels, with 52.7% of orders featuring that option. Meanwhile, the 18″ Black-Painted Wheels were the least popular, with only 12.3% of trucks riding on them. As expected with the higher percentage of Hybrid models, only 27.8% of Maverick’s recorded through the forum have the 4K towing package. As far as other packages go, most orders placed don’t seem to opt to have them equipped. On the other hand, 68.5% of orders have Ford Co-Pilot360 equipped, which doesn’t come as too big of a surprise.
Maverick: Top Ten States
Lastly, the top ten states where the Maverick is ordered features California at the top of the list, which may come as no surprise to many. The other nine states by order location are as follows:

- Michigan
- Ohio
- Virginia
- North Carolina
- New York
- Georgia
Of course, these stats may be skewed if Ford released the order stats from the 100,000 orders. But based on the 4,000+ orders we see here, we can get a pretty good idea about the take rates for the 2022 Ford Maverick.
