While the Ford Bronco may have stolen Jeep’s thunder a bit in 2020, the legendary off-road brand is set to have an incredible 2021. No less than four new models are being introduced, many of which are new to the current Jeep lineup. These include the highly anticipated 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WL, Jeep Wagoneer, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, and a mystery three row model. Jeep confirmed we will see these models go into production (and when) in an Q2 earnings presentation.

Arguably the most important model in Jeep’s upcoming lineup is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It’ll actually be the final SUV introduced next year, going into production Q3 of 2021. Jeep is rumored to offer the all-new Grand Cherokee in the same two row configuration, and an all-new three row option. Engine choices will stay similar to the current Pentastar and HEMI options now, but with mild hybrid assistance.

Earlier next year, we will see the all-new 2022 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. These models are all but guaranteed to be body on frame, and based on the Ram 1500 platform. They will go head to head with the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban, GMC Yukon/Yukon XL and Ford Expedition/ Expedition Max. Being a Jeep, expect better off-road capability than the competition to be a selling point. Jeep could even offer these models with a luxury-oriented trim level to take on the Cadillac Escalade, or even the Range Rover.

“Warren Truck will be down for 14 weeks from late June, until early October for retooling to facilitate the production of the all-new Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer,” said FCA VP Joe Veltri in remarks during the company’s Q2 2020 earnings call.

As for this mystery three row model, it’ll actually be the first model to go into production in Q1 of 2021. FCA is being secretive about what it’ll be, but we still have some guesses. It’s already been confirmed that the current Jeep Grand Cherokee will stick around for the 2021 model year, so Jeep could be introducing the next-gen Grand Cherokee in its three row layout first, and selling it alongside the (likely cheaper) outgoing model. This is similar what Ram does with the 1500 and 1500 Classic.

Still, FCA is telling us names for the Grand Cherokee and Wagoneer models, but not this one. Given the lack of info, it really could be a completely different model we don’t know much about. Maybe that ultra-luxury Jeep isn’t based on one of the aforementioned models, but rather standalone product.

“It’s going into a white space that offers potential for a very strong margin,” said FCA CEO Mike Manley during the earnings call. Jeep doesn’t currently offer a true luxury SUV, and that segment is booming. We wouldn’t be surprised if Jeep were to enter it with a standalone product.

Watch this space for any updates as they come on the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, and this mysterious upcoming three-row SUV.
