2022 RAM 1500 TRX PRICE RISES $3,155 OVER PREVIOUS YEAR

Not Much Has Otherwise Changed For The Ram TRX

The 2021 model year for the Ram 1500 TRX carried a sticker price of $72,120, which included the $1,695 destination charge. But it’s been quite the inflationary year, and the base price increased to $73,380 for the 2022 model year, which excludes the destination charge of $1,795. This brings the total net difference between the 2021 model year and 2022 to $3,155 USD. What’s more, is that the 2022 Ram TRX hasn’t seen much change compared to the previous year. That is, excluding the newly added Ignition Edition. Which is very orange, and effectively replaces the TRX Launch Edition that was only made for the inaugural model year.

The online configurator lists the Ram 1500 TRX with the same 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 (over at Dodge, they call this engine the Hellcat), which cranks out 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, the same as the 2021 model. The engine is paired with the ZF 8HP-based TorqueFlite 8HP95 eight-speed automatic transmission. Altogether, the pickup can go from 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. An absurd feat considering the size and heft of this truck. 3.55 gearing for the rear axle and an engine block heater add $95 to the tally. But the most expensive option available for this roaring dinosaur is the Level 2 equipment group at $9,995.

Ram TRX Ignition Edition: Details

Still, the only noteworthy addition to the Ram TRX is the Ignition Edition. The orange-painted edition features the Level 2 equipment group as standard, with dedicated graphics, 18-inch black wheels, spray-in bed liner, bed step, cab-mounted LED brake light, and cargo tie-downs. In addition, there is a panoramic sunroof, copper carbon fiber trim, TRX embroidery, head-up display, orange badging on the center console, and more. With just 875 units available, the Ignition Edition costs $91,585. But this edition has nothing to do with the price increase on the base version of the Ram TRX.

This next year isn’t going to be easy for the Ram 1500 TRX as competition between the prehistoric predators ramps up with Ford planning to release the F-150 Raptor R. This truck is expected to share the incredible Predator engine found in the Shelby GT500. The 5.2-liter supercharged V8 makes 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque, which will undoubtedly give the Raptor a sharper tooth over the TRX.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
