2023 CORVETTE Z06 WILL BE A TIRE SLAYING MACHINE

Earlier this year we discovered at NCM bash that the 2023 Corvette Z06 was getting its own fully adjustable launch control set up. Now we know there is a little more to it. The Z06 will feature a new manual launch control system altogether. The ability to do burnouts just got way easier.

If you want a quick and easy way to do burnouts or a simple yet effective way to warm up your tires before sending your 2023 Z06 down the drag strip at seemingly unrivaled speed, check out page 203 of the users manual. Found by Corvette Blogger, this portion of the manual lays out what it takes to put your new ride in manual launch mode. For reference, here’s what you do;

• Pull back on both paddle shifters (to declutch the vehicle)
• Release and pull the “+” or “-” paddle while keeping the other depressed
• If done successfully the Performance Transmission Active light will illuminate indicating you are ready to roll

Corvette vehicle chief engineer Josh Holder, the man responsible for the Z06 who has spoken numerous times about the Z06 and its performance capabilities, told Corvette Blogger that Manual mode is “smokey” fast. It’s important to note, due to the high performance nature of the vehicle, manual mode is only intended for closed courses and not for public roads. Holder also told Corvette Blogger that the manual launch control mode was specifically developed to give the average person the ability to smoke the tires properly. The bespoke LT6 V8 engine construction makes it exceptionally difficult for the majority of drivers to “catch” the engine prior to hitting the rev limiter. This makes sense, the LT6 V8 engine puts out a whopping 670 naturally aspirated horsepower and has a redline of 8,600 RPM. It will be only a matter of time before we see the 2023 Corvette Z06, which enters production later this summer, break some speed records set forth by rivals such as the Dodge Demon.
