Thirty years ago, Jeep introduced the original Grand Cherokee SUV by driving it up the steps of Cobo Hall in Detroit and smashing through a window. This symbolized what would turn out to be a breakthrough premium SUV that set a new industry benchmark and soon became known for its upscale design and uncompromising capability for its class. The story continues with the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which has a few notable updates going forward. Some of you will love this news. Some of you won’t.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Family Updates
Today the Jeep Grand Cherokee lineup has an entire family of vehicles, including the new three-row Grand Cherokee L and the electrified Grand Cherokee 4xe. The fifth-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee is built on an all-new architecture along with an all-new interior. But what’s most notable about the 2023 model year is that Jeep has made the Trailhawk available exclusively with the 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain, dropping both the aging 3.6L Pentastar V6 and burly 5.7L Hemi V8 engines. The electrified Grand Cherokee Trailhawk delivers 56 MPGe and 25 miles of all-electric range. The electric range enabled the two-row SUV to trek the infamous Rubicon Trail, which spans 22 miles without a single drop of gasoline.
Peak output for the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe comes in at 375 horsepower and a Hemi V8-rivaling 470 lb-ft of torque sending power through a ZF-supplies 8P75PH PHEV automatic 8-speed transmission.
Uconnect 5 NAV with a 10.1-inch digital touchscreen will now be standard on Limited and Overland models. The limited model of the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will also be getting an available nine-speaker Alpine audio system as a standalone option. If nine speakers aren’t enough for you, Overland and Summit models of the Grand Cherokee L have an available 19-speaker McIntosh audio system. The Jeep Grand Cherokee L offers an assortment of advanced standard and available safety features, including advanced driver-assistant systems, 360-degree surround view, and night vision cameras. Additionally, the three-row SUV features a windshield head-up display, digital rearview mirror, and rear seat monitoring camera.
