Few car reveals have been as groundbreaking and revolutionary as the mid-engined C8 Corvette Stingray. Most cars, let alone the Corvette, never go through such a complete redesign in the life of the car. But that’s just what the C8 did. Now, we can finally learn the full story about how it came to fruition in a new C8 Corvette documentary.
This looks to be a must watch for any car enthusiast. The two part film is titled “Revolution: The Mid-Engined Corvette Story”. Fitting, as the C8 Corvette was a revolution to the Corvette and sports car market. Chevy says it will take viewers behind the scenes from the eyes of the C8 team.
The biggest focus should be on the design and engineering development of the C8 Corvette Stingray. The trailer goes behind the scenes with both the design and engineering teams of the C8. We should learn abbot the incredible amount of work went into the most radical Corvette redesign ever. Interestingly, the preview shows the Nurburgring testing. Last December, we reported the lap time as a 7:28.3, while the documentary teases a slower time of 7:29.9. We will have to wait and see if the documentary discusses this lap time at all.
In addition, the documentary will probably showcase the history of the mid-engined Corvette. Originally, Corvette engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov pushed for Chevy to move the power plan to the middle. After over 50 years of waiting, Chevy finally did just that. In addition, Chevy may include some of the mid-engined Corvette Concepts from the past, such as the Corvette Cerv-II of the 1960s, pictured below.
Muscle Cars and Trucks has been at the forefront of C8 news before and after its reveal. We can’t wait to see if the documentary reveals anything new. After all, it is a revolution.
