There are few muscle cars more recognizable than the Eleanor Mustang. The titular hero car from the 2000 film “Gone in 60 Seconds”, this highly customized 1967 Mustang Shelby GT500 has become the material of many gearhead dreams. And while the Hollywood suits behind the movie might hate it when people try and build their own version of Nicolas Cage’s ride, you now have a chance to buy one of the original cars used in the film. There is a slight catch however, as the car currently resides in Germany.

Offered for sale by ChromeCars, this Eleanor Mustang is one of eleven Steve Stanford and Chip Foose designed cars built for the film. This particular car is number seven, and is thought to be one of just three hero cars that survive to this day. Furthermore, this Eleanor is the nicest example that remains, despite the fact that it carries 72,815 miles on the odometer. You wouldn’t know that this car has been driven that much just by looking at it however, as it’s grey paint and black racing stripes present well in the sales photos.

As a hero car, this particular Eleanor Mustang wasn’t just built for show. Between the sculpted bodywork you’ll find a 5.8L V8 engine provided by Ford Racing, which produces around 400 horsepower. Perhaps more importantly, that power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox. It might not be as powerful as the modern Shelby GT500, but this Eleanor Mustang certainly brings enough attitude to make up the difference.

ChromeCars hasn’t listed a price for this particularly special Mustang, but don’t expect it to come cheap. Seeing as this is the actual car that helped transform Eleanor into a legitimate automotive icon, we’re definitely looking at a price well into the six-figures.
