As fans of all things off-road related here at MC&T, we have a soft spot for the folks over at American Expedition Vehicles. The company outfits some of the coolest and most capable trucks and SUVs that you can take off the tarmac, such as the Ram HD-based Prospector XL. For owners of a fifth-gen Ram Heavy Duty truck who don’t wanna pony up for the full package, the upfitter has just released their Ram HighMark Fenders from the AEV Prospector XL as an a la carte option.
This package is similar to the HighMark fenders offered by AEV for the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2. Just bigger, and of course, a little pricier.
Designed for use with AEV’s own 3” DualSport RT Suspension System and 17-inch Katla Wheels, the Ram HighMark Fenders are a great way to add some style and substance to your HD truck. The innovative flare design allows for the use of massive 41-inch tires without the need for a crazy high lift kit, maintaining a lower center of gravity for the truck. This is a huge advantage off-road, though on-road performance has also been optimized by AEV.

Unlike many of the flare kits that are available on the market, AEV utilizes a unique ¼-inch thick rotomolded polyethylene construction to ensure the strength of the flares. That is the same material that you might see a kayak be made from, and it’s unlike anything else you can buy for your Ram. The kit provides an additional 4.5-inches of coverage on either side, and even includes new wheel liners and structural steel reinforcements.
The AEV Prospector XL HighMark Fender Flares for Ram HD models are available on AEV’s website now, with the front set running for $850. Owners who have a standard 6.5-foot box will pay $650 for their set out back, while owners with the Ram Box will have to fork over $665. Not a terrible price of entry for something that will set your truck apart, all while offering some tangible performance gains.
