CADILLAC BLACKWING CONFIGURATORS: CT5-V RUNS UP TO $124,000

Shortly after announcing their plans to become a carbon-neutral company by 2040, General Motors pulled the cover off of the Cadillac CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing models. These new sports sedans are anything but electric, and promise to be the most track-focused Cadillac models to date. And while some folks weren’t impressed by GM seemingly speaking out of both sides of their mouth, you’re not going to hear us complaining. Sporty Cadillacs have always been a treat to drive, and these high-performance sedans should be no different. After months of waiting, the automaker has finally posted the Cadillac CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing configurator tools to their website. Here’s a breakdown of the packages and options available for both models, as well as a pricing rundown.

Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing

We’ll start with the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing. As the replacement for the outgoing ATS-V model, this new sedan carries a 3.6L twin-turbo V6 like before. That said, output figures are now up to 472 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. The car starts at $59,990 with the six-speed manual gearbox, while 10-speed automatic models carry a starting MSRP of $63,165. Should you want any color that isn’t Summit White or Black Raven however, that price will jump immediately. Six colors are on offer for the price of $625, while Infrared Tintcoat and Dark Emerald Frost cost $1,225 and $3,925, respectively. The latter color is only in limited quantities however, so act fast if that’s your preferred hue.

Continuing with the exterior options for the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, customers will have three different 18-inch wheel options to choose from. Behind those wheels, you can spec either blue, red, or bronze brake calipers for $595. Should you want to bring some track-ready looks to the car, you have a choice of two carbon fiber packages. Carbon Fiber Package 1 costs $4,350, and includes a carbon fiber front splitter, carbon fiber front wheel well deflectors, carbon fiber front dive planes, and a more aggressive rear spoiler. Carbon Fiber Package 2 brings rocker moldings, rocker extensions, and a rear diffuser insert finished in the stuff for $2,650. Package 2 does require you to spec the higher cost option as well, however.

Moving into the interior, customers can upgrade to the high-performance sports seats with suede inserts for $3,000. While these are great for the track or the backroads, this option removes your ability to spec ventilated and massage seat functions for an additional $600. Speaking of the track, customers may want to option to $725 Tech Package, which brings a heads-up display to the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing. For an additional $1,600, GM’s Performance Data Recorder is also on offer. If comfort is more your speed, a nice power sunroof can be had for $1,050.

Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing

The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is the most hardcore model we’ve ever seen from the brand. Thanks to an upgraded version of the 6.2L supercharged LT4 V8 engine, the CT5-V Blackwing produces 668 horsepower and 659 lb-ft of torque. Just like the smaller sedan, it can be had in both six-speed manual and 10-speed automatic spec. The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing starts at $84,990 with the stick, or at $88,165 with the auto. The paint situation is identical with the CT4-V Blackwing, so be prepared to pay for a fun color.

The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing comes with three different wheel options as well, albeit they measure in at a larger 19-inches in diameter. This larger model is also available with carbon ceramic brakes however, which carry a price tag of $9,000. Should you option those brakes, you can choose any of the caliper colors on offer free of charge, which is considerate. Carbon fiber is also an exterior option, although the packages break down differently. The Carbon Fiber Package 2 includes rocker moldings and extensions, a grille header, and the rear diffuser insert for $5,230. Carbon Fiber Package 1 is $4,100, and you get the front wheel well deflectors and the spoiler. Speccing Carbon Fiber Package 2 requires you to spec the lesser package, however. Why the nomenclature is backwards compared to Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing configurator is beyond us.

Things are also different when it comes to interior packages on the CT5-V Blackwing. You can option the high-performance bucket seats for just $2,890, but they don’t come with any suede inserts. For that, you’ll have to pony up $6,090 for one of the seat options that includes the material. Speaking of suede, that can be had on the steering wheel and shifter of both models for just $300.

Expensive Machines

If you check every available box on the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing configurator, you’re left with a total price of $87,535 with destination charges. That is still cheaper than the big V8-powered model, but not by much. Things are quite different when you get to the CT5-V Blackwing however. Fully loaded, this sports sedan rings in at $124,145 including destination charges. For the record, that is what Porsche charges for a Panamera GTS. Now while you likely wouldn’t order everything on offer from the configurator, it’s not too hard to get close to that number. Then again, Cadillac does say this thing will be their most competent machine yet.
