Over the past few days, over 100 cities across the United States participated in protests surrounding the death of George Floyd, an African American who was killed on May 25 while in custody of the Minneapolis Police Department. While the majority of these protests have been peaceful, nightfall has brought rioting and looting to a number of these cities. Such is the case in San Leandro, California, where a few rioters made off with some Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat muscle cars.
Videos posted to social media over the weekend showed rioters breaking into San Leandro Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM SRT, which is located on Marina Boulevard. The videos show a number of people doing burnouts and driving away with several vehicles from the dealership, including a Jeep Grand Cherokee, A Dodge Charger Widebody, and at least two Challenger SRT Hellcats. We’ll share some of the videos here, but know that they contain graphic language.

At this time it is unclear if the looters intended to take the vehicles for joy rides or if the muscle cars and SUV are destined to be chopped and sold for parts. The sought-after Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has an unfortunate history with being stolen, including a few press cars and even a SEMA build.
Footage obtained by the local Bay Area NBC affiliate shows the damage done to San Leandro Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM SRT following the looting. The doors and windows into the dealership have been smashed, and vehicles were left strewn about the parking lot. While no dealership wants to deal with having vehicles stolen, it doesn’t appear that too many vehicles on the lot were damaged.
