In January 2022, Dodge began the search to fill “the greatest automotive job in the world.” After receiving more than 173,500 applications, 10 finalists were chosen, and today the competition comes to a close, and the Dodge Chief Donut Maker has been selected by brand ambassador Bill Goldberg. Preston Patterson of North Carolina proved he has the character and the drive in a series of challenges and has been given the highly sought-after title. The official announcement comes today, 4/26, on National Hemi Day, in reference to the legendary 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8 built from 1964 through the 1971 model year.
Dodge Chief Donut Maker Competition Concludes
Dodge was blown away by the top 10 finalists and how each of them uniquely embodied the best of the Dodge brand. The candidates were put through a series of tests on and off the track. However, Preston Patterson never faltered, proving that he has the knowledge, character, and drive to be the representative of the Brotherhood of Muscle. Preston Patterson has gone from being a kid with a poster of a Dodge Viper on his bedroom wall to now driving a Dodge Challenger Hellcat as his company car. Patterson has stated that he’s ready for his first “assignment as chief donut maker.”
In addition to getting behind the wheel of a Challenger Hellcat, Patterson has also received $150,000 and will have access to some of the auto industry’s most significant events, all over a one-year commitment. Bill Goldberg oversaw the competition and appearances from celebrities Joey Wells and Will “Spank” Horton from Kevin Hart’s Muscle Car Crew, NHRA champion Matt Hagan and sportscaster Katie Osborne.
The chief donut maker search is part of the brand’s Never Lift Campaign, which provides a 24-month road map to Dodge’s performance future. The position will also assist with transitioning the Brotherhood of Muscle towards electrification.
