FORD RETURNS TO THE KING OF THE HAMMERS WHILE FOX OFFERS A COMMEMORATIVE BRONCO

A Bronco 4600 Inspired Special Edition Build You Can Buy

Ford Bronco King of the Hammers Edition

Last year, Ford Performance took the Bronco to take on the King of the Hammers Ultra4 off-road races in Johnson Valley, California. It recently announced that it will return to the race this year to defend last year’s unprecedented 1-2-3 podium sweep in the Every Man Challenge 4600 stock class. In addition, Ford will also aim for a win in the 4400 Unlimited class. But that’s not all, as Fox Factory Performance Vehicle Development partnered with the King of the Hammers race to put together a Ford Bronco King of the Hammers Edition inspired by the 4600-class Broncos competing in the event.

The Every Man Challenge features Bronco 4600s, which start their lives as stock production Bronco SUVs at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant before being modified to align to race class specifications. Vaughn Gittin Jr., Loren Healy, Bailey Cole, Jason Scherer, and defending race winners Brand and Roger Lovell all return as driver/co-driver highlights to the entry list.

Meanwhile, the 4400 vehicles are all-out custom-built marauders featuring tubular chassis, powerful engines, and massive tires. However, production vehicle innovations also come into play, with the Bronco 4400s utilizing Fox’s live valve shock technology, also found on the Bronco Raptor.

Ford Bronco King of the Hammers Edition: Details

As for the special edition Ford Bronco inspired by the King of the Hammers off-road race, Fox Factory Performance Vehicle Development teamed with off-road racer Jason Scherer to design the vehicle. The modifications center around Fox‘s 2.5 Performance Elite shocks, paired with BDS coilovers, locating 37-inch BF Goodrich KM3 tires wrapped around 18-inch satin gray wheels. Other suspension components include adjustable rear control arms, adjustable track bar, and uniball front upper control arms. The Ford Bronco also gets a lower control arm and lower shock skid plates. JKS also provides the beefed-up Bronco with a max tire clearance kit and a steering wheel sleeve kit to beef up the Bronco’s factory tie rod ends.

The KOTH Ford Bronco build comprises carbon-fiber fender flares, full underbody skid-plate coverage, rock sliders, an air compressor, additional lighting, KOTH graphics, a bikini top, and a Rage4th-designed high-clearance front bumper. The Ford Bronco’s powertrain has remained the same. Fox hasn’t released pricing information for its KOH Edition Bronco yet, nor has it said how many vehicles there will be. However, customers can purchase one of these competent SUVs through a participating Ford dealership. Additionally, the modifications are backed by a three-year/36,000-mile warranty.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Ford Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
