GMC CANYON AT4X WILL BE EXPORTED TO SELECT MARKETS

The Truck Will Be Offered In The Middle East Exclusively In AT4X Trim

GMC Canyon AT4X

GMC is delivering on its promise to bring more premium and capable trucks to select markets in the Middle East, and the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X will be one of them. The Canyon will be an all-new nameplate for the region, and will be launching exclusively in the AT4X trim. As in, no baseline trims will be offered there. Makes sense, considering what enthusiasts do for fun out there. Sometime this summer, the 2023 GMC Canyon will have its global reveal, and all of our early product reports that we’ve shared with you on GM’s next-gen midsize trucks will be made official.

The AT4 trim is already available across the entire GMC SUV and pickup truck line-up in the region. But the newly introduced AT4X marks a new peak of premium off-road performance underpinned with serious capability and uncompromising refinement. The AT4X trim on the Canyon takes GMC’s mid-size truck to the next level, with the teaser previewing the Canyon AT4X’s badging, rocker protectors, and 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels.

2023 GMC Canyon AT4X: Details

While the AT4X trim hasn’t been revealed just yet, the GMC Canyon AT4 OverlandX Concept serves as a big sneak preview of the next-generation GMC Canyon AT4X off-road truck. After peeling away the aftermarket stuff on the concept, we can get a decent idea of what we can expect with the upcoming truck, starting with Multimatic DSSV dampers. In addition, the front bumper seems to be inspired by the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, which means the corners have been cut out to allow the front tires to confront obstacles more directly. Furthermore, a factory-installed lift kit, a wider stance, underbody protection, and rocker panel protection all come from the Colorado ZR2 parts bin. Lastly, front and rear lockers are integrated into the truck, and sturdy cast-iron control arms are present and accounted for.

The GMC Canyon AT4 OverlandX Concept also features 33-inch tires, BFG KM3 mud-terrain, to be exact. While the KM3 tire won’t make it to production, the 33-inch measurement spec will. These tires are a full two-inches wider in diameter than what’s currently offered on today’s already very capable Chevrolet Colorado ZR2.

Soon, General Motors will be offering a wider selection of off-road performance trucks than any other automaker under the sun between the Chevrolet and GMC brands. Look for not only the next-gen Colorado ZR2 and Canyon AT4X to join the lineup, but also a Silverado HD ZR2 and Sierra HD AT4X, and even more capable variants on the way in partnership with American Expedition Vehicles. Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
