The 2022 GMC Hummer EV reveal is right around the corner, and for real this time. Originally planned for the end of May at the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant, where it’s going to be built, the COVID-19 pandemic forced General Motors to come up with a more physically distant solution to reveal the vehicle. What we’re getting is a virtual reveal online, not unlike how we were treated to debut of the 2021 Ford Bronco. And it’s not like any hype was lost from how that was done.
GMC officially announced last month that the Hummer EV reveal will take place TODAY on October 20. And today, more details were revealed. Viewers can catch the GMC Hummer EV reveal at 8:00 PM ET during Game 1 of the 2020 MLB World Series on Fox, and on NBC’s The Voice that same evening. And of course, everybody with internet can catch it on YouTube at that same time. The caption on YouTube reads as follows:
Are you ready for the Quiet Revolution? Experience the world premiere of the all-electric, zero emissions GMC HUMMER EV on 10.20.20 @ 8pm ET and reserve one for yourself.
While there’s bound to be a teaser or two between now and then, we’ve already been treated to quite a few. Such as its innovated Crab Mode capabilities. Specifically catered to off-road customers, this mode allows the truck’s four-wheel steering system to move the vehicle diagonally. GMC also teased an Adrenaline Mode, which we imagine could be something akin to Tesla’s Ludicrous Mode. With as much as 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 ft-lb of torque, it’s entirely possible.
Power of the 2022 GMC Hummer EV is provided by an 800-volt Ultium battery pack with 350-kWh fast-charging capability, which could give the truck as much as 400 miles of range on a single charge.
The 2022 Hummer EV will be sold exclusively by GMC dealers – hence the loose branding affiliation that goes with it. It’s expected to come in single, dual and tri-motor configurations, with the tri-motor providing 1,000 horsepower and a 0-60 time of just three seconds. The vehicle will also have removable doors, modular removable roof panels, and the ability to charge its batteries up to 90 percent in 10 minutes. It will also come in both pickup truck and SUV forms, and it will have a frunk.
