If you are looking for a car enthusiast gift, Mid America Dragway in Kansas is for sale. For the respectable sum of $1.5 million you can own a fully operational dragway without having to start from the ground up.

Per a Mid America Dragway Facebook post, owners Jim, Marcia, Chris and Jasmine Maybrier are selling their dragway that has been hosting races since the mid 60’s.  The decision was not an easy one for the family to make, however health issues seem to be the ultimate culprit of pulling the trigger and letting go of ownership.

“The main objective here is to pass the torch on to someone else that can run with it. We don’t want to see any interruption in the track being open and functioning.” While the Maybrier name will not be synonymous with ownership anymore the family still yearns for being part of the dragway in Kansas as much as possible. The Facebook post mentions they are willing to assist the buyer with operation in an effort to provide a smooth transition. The Maybrier family also mentions they still want to race at the track and sponsor events through their business.

The purchase would net you about 66-acres of land that includes a 300 foot cement launch pad that transitions into asphalt. You would also obtain all the buildings and equipment residing trackside, some of which include climate controlled bathroom and concession facilities. The track itself also features concrete barriers and lights positioned along the dragway so as to offer nighttime events.

Mid America Dragway is located about an hour south of Wichita and about an hour and a half from Stillwater Oklahoma positioned on the south side of highway 166. In what was then a live video, in mid November, Chris breaks the emotional news to his racing family and those that have supported the track time and time again. His announcement comes about 10-minutes in.

  1. It is a very nice drag strip. Owners have done a great job with making it a premier location. They have had car shows and swap meets also there which had tremendous turnout.
