S650 FORD MUSTANG SHOULD EVENTUALLY OFFER HYBRID VARIANTS

Both The 2.3L EcoBoost And 5.0L Coyote Could Get Augmented With Electrification

As the Ford Mustang buyer gets older, a fresh approach becomes ever more important for the only muscle car to have seen continuous production since 1964 without any breaks. As a result, designers are likely to make some changes to make the S650 Ford Mustang stand out and attract a younger, wealthier audience, and a hybrid powertrain Mustang might help with that. At minimum, it could keep the Coyote V8 around longer as policy makers come for your engines.

S650 Ford Mustang Hybrid Powertrain Leak?

The LinkedIn mine continues to produce gold as Ford employees share more information on the platform than the company would like. For example, thanks to the users on the Mustang7G forum, certain engineers have been assisting in the development for of an S650 Ford Mustang hybrid, both with a 2.3L EcoBoost turbo four, as well as the iconic 5.0L Coyote V8.

Its unclear at this time whether or not the S650 Mustang will offer non-electrified versions of the the 2.3L EcoBoost and Coyote V8 alongside the hybrid variants, or if they will be the only options. The benefits to adding electrification would be two-fold: more power, and lower operating emissions. The tradeoff? It’s bound to be more expensive, and the Mustang is already the most premium of all the pony cars.

What To Expect From The S650 Mustang

We can expect the S650 Ford Mustang to be an evolved form of the S550 with a rethought interior and exterior design. We will get to see precisely what that means come late 2022, when the S650 is expected to debut. Despite electrification, the S650 Mustang is expected to maintain its rear-wheel-drive layout, and leave AWD to the all electric Mach-E SUV.

The Ford Mustang is expected to be the last V8 muscle car on the market, going down in history as the first pony car and the last. The next-gen Mustang is to be the beginning of the end.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
