The pickup truck remains one of the quintessential staples of the American car market. No longer relegated to the job site, trucks have become far more luxurious and usable everyday than they ever have been before. Features aren’t the only thing that automakers have cranked up either though, as today’s pickups are massive compared to their ancestors. In fact, most automakers will no longer let you purchase a regular cab truck with a short bed anymore. For one GMC Sierra 1500 owner, this simply would not do.
GMC hasn’t made a regular cab truck with a short bed available for customers to purchase since 2018, as the company moves to support the more popular crew cab models. While this may make business sense for GM, Instagram user adanomyte was determined to have the GMC Sierra 1500 of his dreams.

Starting with a regular cab truck with a standard long bed, adanomyte took on the task of creating the shorty-shorty that GMC wouldn’t. There’s more to shortening a truck bed than just busting out the sawzall, especially if you’re trying to accomplish a factory-fresh finish. There was some frame cutting involved in this project, and that always has the potential to be hectic. That said, we think the end product represents itself well. It doesn’t hurt that this GMC Sierra 1500 has also been finished with a set of drop spindles that give it a muscle truck stance.
Like any proper muscle truck build, this Sierra is also in the process of picking up a new paint scheme. Gone is the factory-spec white paint, now replaced with a slick two-tone paint grey paint job complete with a copper pinstripe. After the bodywork comes back together, we’re sure this will be one handsome pickup.

It’s a shame that automakers have killed off this iconic truck body style, but fans will always find a way to get what they want. Should you want to learn more about how this build was completed, you can head over to YouTube where there are currently seven videos related to the project.
You know, I always read that people want these style pickups, but no one ever buys one! I had to order a 2018 Silverado regular cab short bed and wait fifteen weeks for it, and then wait months more for the dealer to offer a decent outright price. No other dealer would even talk to me. In the meantime, it sat on the lot. No one wanted it. Glad I got it, because it’s the end of the line for the best looking body style on the road.
