In this era of turbocharging, getting more power out of a car has never been easier. Toss on a few bolt-ons and a well-mapped tune, and the resulting performance gains are sure to be significant. That said, most of the turbocharged engines on offer from American automakers are either four or six-cylinder motors. Ford’s EcoBoost lineup is a prime example of this, and can be found stuffed in everything from the Bronco Sport to the Ford F-150. Of course not everyone is interested in what the V6 has to offer, which is why the 5.0L Coyote V8 remains a popular option among F-150 customers. Thanks to the folks over at Whipple Superchargers, Coyote-powered Ford F-150 owners will soon be able to get in on the forced-induction madness as well. That is because the Whipple is gearing up to release a new Gen 5 Supercharger kit for the 2021 Ford F-150.

Whipple Superchargers Gen 5 Blower

The Gen 5 Supercharger is the latest product to come from Whipple, who have been making superchargers for over three decades. The supercharger itself measures in at 3.0L, and promises to produce more power than any other positive displacement supercharger on the market. Compared to the brand’s Gen 3 and Gen 4 models, this blower feautres Whipple’s first 3×4 billet rotor combination, as well as a new patent-pending dual-pass, dual-intercooler technology. This new tech doubles the cooling capacity of the system, which keeps charge temps down and improves overall efficiency. In other words, it helps make more power more consistently. Based on the short teaser clip uploaded by the company, the Whipple Gen 5 Supercharger also sounds quite gnarly spooling up atop the Coyote V8 as well.

Whipple has yet to release a ton of information about this new supercharger kit for the Coyote V8-powered 2021 Ford F-150, but expect that to change in the coming weeks. That said, we do know that the Gen 5 Supercharger kit costs $8,100 for the current crop of Hemi V8 engines. This could be a good hint as to what sort of cash customers can expect to spend on the package. Either way, we’re willing to bet that the horsepower gains will be hard to beat at any price lower than that regardless.

Like the C8 Corvette, the 2021 Ford F-150 features an encrypted ECU, and could be a major roadblock for any level of tuning, unless given access by Ford Motor Company itself. This is what makes this supercharger announcement so interesting. Stay tuned as we learned more about the new Whipple Gen 5 Supercharger for the 2021 Ford F-150 V8 pickup truck.

Whipple Gen 5 Supercharger kit is now available for the 5.7L Hemi and 6.4L Hemi V8 engines.
