FAST AND FURIOUS 9 TRAILER TEASES THE CARS, PLOT TWISTS

Racing Into Theaters May 22

Fast and Furious 9

If you need your fix of cars, action and thrills, the Fast and Furious franchise has been your movie. Now, we have our first look at the 9th installment, coming 3 years after the last movie, Fate of the Furious. The Fast and Furious 9 trailer shows Dom’s brother added to the cast, while Han appears to return all the way from Tokyo Drift.

All of the Fast and Furious staples remain: fast cars, lots of action, and some hilariously unrealistic stunts. Dom now has a son, and therefore he claims that he wants to put his past behind him. Unsurprisingly, that doesn’t last long and he is immediately into battle with his younger brother, played by John Cena. He seems to be playing along with Fate of the Furious villain Cipher (Charlize Theron), so it will be interesting to see how that partnership operates.

As for the cars, there is a jungle off-road chase scene in a Dodge Charger Hellcat Widebody that jumps a cliff ravine with a grappling hook, and a rocket powered Pontiac Fiero. Typical Fast and Furious, it seems. We also see the new Toyota Supra, several old muscle cars and some off-roaders featured in the trailer. There is also a very James Bond Spectre-esque meeting at an old mansion with countless exotic cars around.

Fate of the Furious was met with mixed reviews, being the first film after Paul Walker’s saddening death. We will have to wait until May 22 to see if Fast and Furious 9 can do better.
