If you’ve ever wanted to own your very own race car, you have to keep your eye out for auctions taking place, as there are ample opportunities to get an excellent deal on something that wasn’t just built for track use but participated in some legendary races. One great example is the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R, which recently went up for auction at Bring A Trailer. The bid closed on May 19, 2024, selling for $143,000, which may seem like a lot for a lot of us, but considering what this car can do and what it is, that number feels like a steal.

This particular Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R is number 9 of 14 examples built by Pratt & Miller Engineering. Rebel Rock Racing of DeLand, Florida, campaigned the racecar in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge until its retirement in 2023. During its career, the car secured a victory at Sebring International Raceway and third-place finishes at Road Atlanta and Virginia International Raceway.

Featuring a 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine mated to an Xtrac six-speed sequential manual transmission and a Salisbury-type limited-slip differential. The Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R has plenty of power on tap. The cabin is protected by a roll cage and fitted with a Racetech racing seat, a Schroth harness, a MoTec digital display, a fire suppression system, and a rearview camera. Carbon fiber dawns the aerodynamic features, including the splitter, front fascia, and rear wing.

Black Forgeline 18″ alloy wheels with Michelin racing slicks wrapped around them connect the car to the pavement. Behind that is the suspension, consisting of Öhlins two-way adjustable coilovers, a five-hole front, three-hole rear adjustable sway bar, and mono-ball joints. The true value of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro comes from what has only recently been replaced on the car, which includes the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LT1 V8, which was replaced in February 2023. Meanwhile, the fuel cell and lift pumps were replaced in October 2023. The buyer will also receive an extra set of Forgeline alloy wheels, a fuel jug, tools, and build documents. What a machine.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
