The 2021 GMC Hummer EV is primed to become just as much of a pop culture icon as Hummer was in the mid-2000s. Electric vehicles, especially electric trucks, are all the rage right to many people now, and the style focus of the new Hummer has certainly been well received. GMC and other other brands want to work together to capitalize on the reborn Hummer brand, and sneaker designer John Geiger is dropping a pair of GMC Hummer EV inspired sneakers tomorrow, February 26 at noon.
This official collaboration between John Geiger and GMC has created a pretty special pair of sneakers, a limited edition model in the 002 Low line of shoes. The upper is made of a distinctive synthetic material with a moon print on it, which is the biggest GMC Hummer EV connection. On the electric Hummer’s interior, there are several moon references, and the shoes are specifically inspired by the moon surface on the infotainment system on startup.
The shoe laces, which wrap around the heel, are black and white, mimicking the look of the Hummer EV Edition 1, which GMC will only sell in the white and black color you’ve seen in pictures. The sole is white too, tying in with the Hummer color. Even the box is unique, featuring the same moon print as the shoes themselves. A John Geiger and GMC Hummer EV logo on the box highlight the partnership these shoes celebrate.
These John Geiger 002 Low sneakers will probably follow a similar sales path as the GMC Hummer EV. Both are expensive, with the Hummer coming in at $112,000 and the sneakers at $320. The Hummer EV Edition 1 reservations were also filled within an hour of opening, and fashion sneakers like these usually sell out in hours too, if not a few minutes. Really then, it’s not a surprise for these brands to collaborate on a such a cool project, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see some reservation holders with Hummer EVs on order to buy these as well.
