Lingenfelter has been working on some spectacular modifications for the C8 Corvette. The first is the supercharged C8 Corvette E-Ray, which could potentially increase power by well over 800 ponies if it’s anything like the package for the Stingray. But if you’re looking for a more significant displacement with absurd horsepower levels, they have another creation on the way.
Linenfelter C8 Corvette 427 LT2 V8 Engine: Details
Lingenfelter Performance Engineering has teased its new Eliminator spec-S 7.0L LT2, which can make over 700 horsepower on 91 octane fuel. The engine was developed to give C8 owners the sound and feel of a massive cubic inch, high torque, naturally aspirated engine for their mid-engine Corvette. The engine was placed on the dyno, which showed that it makes a mind-blowing 700 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque at 6,700 RPM. That means the Lingenfelter 427 LT2 Engine gives the legendary LT6 engine found in the C8 Corvette Z06 a run for its money.
That said, the GM LT6 V8 Engine utilizes a flat-plane crank, allowing engineers to maximize volumetric efficiency for greater power. This allows the engine to redline at 8,600 RPM. That high rev range also means the LT6 can reach high octaves that no Corvette has reached before, though the Lingenfelter 427 engine would be a close second while offering greater horsepower levels.
It’s unclear what the Lingenfelter Performance Engineering 427 LT2 V8 engine includes. Still, it will likely soon be offered on the website, which could yield further details regarding what customers can expect regarding the overall components for the build and any other goodies they offer. The nice thing is that this should be a fantastic alternative to C8 Corvette Stingray owners who want more naturally aspirated power for their Corvette instead of a supercharger kit. That said, the supercharger will certainly be a cheaper option out of the two.
