Chevrolet has decided to offer the C8 Corvette with right-hand drive, which has opened many doors to bring the car to other markets across the globe. One such market is Japan, which, in addition to receiving these exquisite cars, has two limited edition Stingrays as a nod to the company’s rich motorsport heritage. This year, Chevrolet is at it again as Chevrolet Japan has announced two limited edition models that will be sold exclusively in the country. They always seem to do something special for Japan.
Chevrolet Japan C8 Corvette Limited Editions: Details
The limited Edition CERV 1 and Heritage Edition C8 Corvette Stingray reach back into Corvette’s storied past for inspiration. The name CERV is an acronym for Chevrolet Experimental Research Vehicle. It was initially a bullet-shaped creation of Zora Arkus Duntov in 1959 and was used as a test subject for new technologies. Recreated on the C8 platform, Japan’s Edition CERV 1 is limited to just 20 cars and will be offered on both 2LT Coupe (15 Units) or Convertible (5 units). The MSRP for the Coupe will be ¥ 15,100,000 ($101,282.50 USD with current exchange rates), and the convertible will start at ¥ 18,900,000 ($126,763.96 USD).
The C8 Corvette Stingray Edition CERV 1 will feature a Silver Flare exterior with Edge Blue racing stripes and Edge Yellow Brake Calipers. The interior is dawned with an all-black interior and GT2 seats for the Coupe and Competition Seats for the convertible.
As for the C8 Corvette Stingray Heritage Edition, that will also be limited to just 20 units, each making use of the 3LT trim with 14 allocations for the Coupe and 5 for the Convertible. Each Heritage Eition will feature the new Seawolf Gray Tri-Coat exterior with an Adrenaline Red interior, which Chevrolet Japan states is a tribute to the very first Corvette, which had a dipped Sportsman Red interior. Other features include Edge Yellow Brake Calipers tucked behind 20-spoke Gloss Black Q9I wheels. The interior also offers some black accents, which add an excellent contrast to the red. The MSRP for the Heritage Edition Coupe will be ¥ 17,400,000 ($116,739.21 USD) and ¥ 18,900,000 ($126,763.96 USD) for the convertible.
Both limited edition Corvette Stingrays are now available for sale through Chevrolet’s dealer network in Japan. With limited availability, they’ll likely get swept off the shelves very quickly, especially as they add a stark contrast to the all-black Corvettes that are normally available in the country. It’s a smart way to ensure the special edition Corvettes stand out above all the others.
