Creativity tends to be the magic that makes the impossible become the possible. We definitely saw that at the 2021 SEMA Show last week, in myriad ways. But for the moment we want to focus on the C8 Corvette Stingray Convertible. It’s an incredible piece of engineering, as anybody who has driven one can attest. However, compared to the coupe, it has a downside: you can’t see the engine because of a black panel. Like, you can’t see it at all. And if you have purchased a C8 Corvette Convertible, you’ve probably wanted to do something about showing off your LT2 engine when you put your top up and down. I mean, you know it’s there, why can’t you see what you paid for?
Well, one clever C8 Corvette Convertible owner decided he wanted to showcase that beautiful LT2 V8 in some way, and decided to do something about it. Over at the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com, a post from “vossenator” shows the creative way he was able to get around his Corvette dilemma. We’ve pasted his post below:
vossenator: Are you missing the view of your engine in your HTC version of the C8 Stingray? Then why don’t you do what this owner did. Had a friend who is a photographer take the picture and found someone that made a graphic image of the photo. He then mounted the graphic over the engine cover and voila! When he drops the top you can see the image of the engine. Comments?
Well, two points for creativity. It’s not a bad idea considering, there isn’t any customizing in the form of hacking up a perfectly good C8 Corvette convertible just yet. Though I’m sure at one point, there will be some type of affordable aftermarket setup that will be an easy bolt-on fix to the problem. But until then, you might just have to take a page out of vossenator’s play book, and take a nice pic of your LT2 and turn it into a graphic for your Vette.
The crazy things car people will do to achieve their goals.

That’s pretty clever . Luckily though aftermarket did come to the rescue for HTC owners! Rapidrev makes a clear cover to replace the black one that you can see right through. https://www.rapidrev.com/product-page/c8-corvette-clear-engine-cover
