R1X COULD BE A MORE SERIOUS OFF-ROAD TRUCK FROM RIVIAN

A More Capable Electric Truck

Rivian R1T Storage System Pantent - R1X?

Rivian has been making some huge strides recently by introducing three new SUVs, which will be more affordable for customers. This makes it easier for them to get their hands on a Rivian via the R2, R3, and R3X. While the Rivian R3X is designed to be a more rugged compact SUV, it appears that it won’t be the only rugged offering from Rivian. According to a trademark filing and illustration recently discovered by Rivian Owner’s Forum users featuring the R1X name, Rivian could have a more extreme version of the R1T on the way.

Rivian R1X Trademark: Details

Automakers often find success expanding their offerings by adding performance versions of their trucks’ products, including increased ground clearance, beefier tires, and extra cladding. This gives customers the chance to purchase a more adventure-ready vehicle without the need to spend enormous amounts of time and money transforming it to be better prepared for adventures. However, it takes away some of the fun of building a vehicle exactly how you want it.

Rivian R3X

Without much indication of what the R1X could be outside of Rivian trademarking the name and having knowledge of the R3X, we could make many theories from this new development. It’s possible that, outside of giving the vehicle a more rugged appearance, it could also stand out with a unique powertrain configuration and features that drastically change the capability of the already capable electric pickup. It might even feature new bumpers to improve approach and departure angles. A patent filing from Rivian could indicate what the company has in store for the R1X, and it’ll turn some heads. If anything, it could debut with the refreshed R1S and R1T family that’s expected soon.

Like many trademark filings, there’s a chance that Rivian could never use the name, but it does  legally signal intent to use it. But, the addition of a more rugged R1T offering from the company would spruce up the lineup either before the arrival of the R2 or after as a bridge between the arrival of the more affordable SUV and the launch of the R3 and R3X, which doesn’t yet have a set date to arrive to market.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
