The C8 Corvette Z06 GT3.R is a spectacular race car that shares 70 percent of its parts with the production C8 Corvette Z06, demonstrating incredible track-to-street validation and development. The vehicle is glorious as a track-only, purpose-built FIA GT3 race car; its purpose is singular. Race all over the world. Priced at $735,000, it is the most expensive Corvette ever sold by Chevrolet, but up until recently, we have yet to get any raw sounds from the epic race car.
A video recently posted to YouTube by NM2255 | Raw Car Sounds showcases the C8 Corvette Z06 GT3.R at the Imola circuit during the Kateyama professional track day; the glorious LT6-based 5.5L DOHC V8 engine can be heard. From idling to acceleration and racing around the track, fans of the Corvette can enjoy this beautiful example of a race car in all of its uninhibited ICE engine glory.
C8 Corvette Z06 GT3.R: Details
The new Corvette GT3.R debuted at the Rolex 24 at Daytona with two teams – Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports and AWA. But there will be other locations where fans can spot the car as it will be racing within two programs: TF Sports in the FIA World Endurance Championship LMGT3 division and DXDT Racing in Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS. As it stands, Chevrolet will only build 20 examples of the car. Still, there are plans to expand the Z06 program for the 2025 racing year as Program Manager Christie Bagne revealed that a delegation of Corvette reps has already set out to gather data for other major endurance races in which the car could participate next year.
This is Corvette Racing‘s 25th racing season. Over the last quarter of a century, the team has scored 122 race victories worldwide, including 113 in the IMSA competition and 8 class victories at Le Mans. Those wins have led to 14 Manufacturer’s and Driver’s championships and 15 Team titles. No team in IMSA history has won more races or championships than Corvette Racing in that time span, and it doesn’t look like things will be dying down anytime soon.
