The 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is a spectacular example of how electrification can be a blast to drive, enhancing performance without taking away from the glory of combustion. It undercuts several other hybrid exotics on the market with a jaw-dropping 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds, which makes it the quickest Corvette ever. With the benefits of all-wheel drive and instantaneous front wheel torque thanks to electrification, the E-Ray is the ideal Corvette to put on a lake to go ice racing, flicking out the back end around corners and kicking up snow along the way. And that’s exactly what it did during the 2024 FAT Ice Race that took place in Aspen, Colorado.
As you can see from the photo below, joined a rather colorful and exotic group of cars that came to test their traction on the talc colored tarmac. Also in attendance was the refreshed Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, the Hoonipigasus, a 650 hp Toyota Scout, several Porsche race cars, as well as something called the Scarbo, which we’ll have more details on soon.
Focusing on the 2024 Corvette E-Ray, two videos have been posted to the Corvette Instagram showcasing the E-Ray in a winter wonderland during the FAT Ice Race, and it looks like an absolute blast. If you didn’t know, this Ice Race was founded in 1952 and has taken place in numerous locations over the years. However, the epic occasion came to an end in 1974 due to an accident that occurred with a clearing vehicle. Half a century after its inception and five years after its first revival, the F.A.T. Ice Race finally came across the pond, landing on a snow-covered circuit in Aspen, Colorado. This 3-day race event has come and gone from February 8-10.
Unfortunately, the Corvette E-Ray never made it to the final shootout rounds, but based on the video, the event was mostly about just having fun.
