NEW SCARBO VINTAGE SV ROVER MAKES 1,100 HP, IS STREET LEGAL, COSTS 7 FIGURES

This Is What They Call A Hypertruck

Scarbo SV Rover

You’ve heard of the Land Rover; now get ready for the Scarbo Vintage SV Rover, designed to be everything you could ever want in a street-legal off-road vehicle (though we’re sure Blacklake would like to contest that). This thing is an absolute beast first shown to the world during the F.A.T Ice Race. With a V8 or an electric motor placed at the back and 30 inches of suspension travel, it’s the go-anywhere vehicle, especially with 1,100 horsepower from a supercharged 6.2L V8 engine on tap. As such, they’re calling it a “hypertruck.” And it’s priced accordingly, at $1.5 million USD.

Scarbo SV Rover: Details

The Scarbo Vintage SV Rover is constructed of aluminum, carbon fiber, and four figures of electric or gasoline power. The SV Rover is given a widened stance thanks to its fenders, which are hinged upward to give the wheels plenty of room to articulate through the rough terrain the vehicle will face. The fenders are connected to the suspension, ensuring the tires could never hit them, even if the driver tried. All of this allows the massive 40″ tires and 30″ wheels the incredible range of travel mentioned earlier.

Design-wise, we see a bit of Hummer H1, Land Rover Defender, Rambo Lambo, Ford Bronco DR, and Toyota Land Cruiser. Except this thing would likely chew up and spit out all of them on a baja course.

If you plan on bringing your family while taking the Scarbo SV Rover off-road, think again, as there is no back seat. Instead, the vehicle has been given inboard-mounted pushrod suspension, which takes place behind the driver and passenger seat. The front suspension uses a similar racing-style setup. When adding everything together, the SV Rover features an air ride system with user-adjustable height control, suspension dampening to customize the riding terrain, fully independent suspension at all four corners, four-wheel steering, and massive tires. That alone is absurd to think about, but wait! There’s more.

Sitting between the rear shocks and the driver is the 6.2L V8 engine, which produces 1,100 horsepower with the assistance of a supercharger. Sending power to the wheels is an eight-speed automatic, but if you opt for the electric powertrain (yes, there’s an electric option), you’ll have to sacrifice some ponies and settle for just 1,006 horsepower instead. Both vehicle versions receive a driver-selectable 4×4 drive system with a two-speed transfer case. The Scarbo also has selectable front and rear locking diffs to ensure all power can reach the ground.

Now, with it go prove its power and capability in an off-road race like the Mint 400 or Baja 1000? We’ll have to wait and see.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
