The NASCAR Tribute Build Benefits The Jack & Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation (JAJF)

Chevrolet Hertz Camaro ZL1

The 2021 Barrett-Jackson Auction wrapped up this past Saturday, boasting the sales of noteworthy cars like this 1959 Cadillac Ghostbusters Ectomobile Re-creation and a 1965 AC Cobra 289 Roadster. Beyond the normal scope of its public car auctions, Barrett-Jackson has a long-standing tradition of supporting charitable causes by partnering with companies looking to raise money. One of the most notable charity cars to pass through the action block this past weekend was a 2020 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 built in collaboration by Hertz and Hendrick Motorsports. The Hertz Camaro ZL1 is production #001 of 24 and 100% of the hammer price went to the Jack & Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation (JAJF).

The Hertz Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Is A NASCAR Tribute

If you’re not familiar with NASCAR, Hendrick Motorsports might not ring a bell. If you are familiar with NASCAR, you’d know that the Hendrick Motorsports team became the winningest team in NASCAR Cup Series history just this year after their driver Kyle Larson clinched the 2021 Coca-Cola 600. This ZL1 however, is a tribute to the #24 Hendrick Motorsports ZL1 Camaro race car that racing prodigy William Byron drove back in 2018, the year that Hertz became a team sponsor.

The Hertz ZL1 Goodies

The Hertz Camaro ZL1 features some tasteful, custom engine modifications and plenty of exterior Hertz Yellow graphics and racing logos. Under the hood, there’s a Callaway GenThree Supercharger and Callaway TrippleCooled Intercooler System that fits nice and snug thanks to a hand-built carbon-fiber hood insert. The Callaway goodies bump the horsepower figures in the ZL1 from 650 to 750. The Hertz Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 sports custom black Forgeline wheels and #24 center caps. Subtle design elements include the the data plate confirming car production #001 under the hood, the embroidered headrests with William Byron’s signature, a dash plaque with the team owner Rick Hendrick’s signature, and a Chevy factory-authenticated RPO (Regular Production Option) code.

The best part about this custom, limited series Hertz Camaro ZL1 is that all proceeds of the $250,000 hammer price will go to the Jack and Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation. JAJF helps “…children facing the looming loss of their young Mom or Dad to cancer to ‘WOW! Experiences’ – a prescribed timeout as part of treatment protocol together as a family away from their late stage cancer to create positive, cherished, indispensable memories.” A big shout out to anyone at the Barrett-Jackson auction who bid on this special car.
