When you hear the words muscle car, you likely conjure up images of vintage metal from the heyday of these American machines. An era defined by drag racing, V8 power and endless gobs of cool styling. No modern day muscle car has managed to capture the essence of their forebears quite like the Dodge Challenger. Drawing heavily from the design language of the 1971 model, the 2020 Dodge Challenger definitely looks the part more than the Mustang or Camaro. Doubling down on the revived retro design, Dodge have just opened the order books for the Challenger T/A Appearance Package.

The T/A Appearance Package is a throwback to the Challenger Trans Am series race cars of the 1970s, and brings even more of the old car’s flair to the table. Included is a painted satin black hood, a satin-black wrapped roof and rear decklid, a satin black spoiler with the T/A decal, and Hellcat-inspired illuminated Air Catcher headlamps. Depending on if you’re ordering and R/T or Scat Pack model, there are also two sets of 20-inch wheels included in the T/A Appearance Package.

Under the hood Dodge throws in a Mopar cold-air intake system for a little added induction noise. The retro treatment continues to the interior where you’ll find old school white face gauges surrounded by gloss black trim rings. A nice nod to the muscle cars of the 1970’s, despite the fact that the Challenger was utilizing black gauges during that time period.

There is no denying that part of the Challenger’s success over the past few years comes from its unabashed appreciation for its older self. People love the way that old muscle cars make us feel, and Dodge has done their damnedest to capture that with the current lineup. The T/A Appearance Package continues the brand’s celebration of its vintage icon. That said, it isn’t all that cheap. The T/A Appearance Package for the Challenger R/T and Challenger R/T Scat Pack has an MSRP of $3,995.
