Tipping the scales at over 4,100 lbs and possessing a ludicrous 760 horsepower under the hood courtesy of a 5.2L supercharged V8 nicknamed “Predator,” you’d think by just that alone that the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 would be one of the most unwieldily machines that could enter an SCCA-sanctioned autocross event – a natural habitat for more lithe sports cars such as the Mazda Miata, Toyota 86, and/or the Corvette.
While we have much more to share about our time with what will go down in history as one of the most incredible production muscle cars the world has ever seen, or ever will see, we wanted to take the time to share with you some of the best photos from the past weekend. The site location is Oscoda, Michigan, on tarmac where a squadron of B-52 nuclear bombers once rested. In the distance are the remnants of a high-security US Air Force base, complete with a bunker that goes several stories beneath the concrete seen in the background. But while this symbol of American might has since been demilitarized, a new image of this ethos can be seen taking advantage of this wide open space. In Race Red, of course.
