NEW CLIPS SHOW FORD BRONCO ON THE DUNES

Witness The SUV In Its Natural Habitat

Ford

Since the debut of the 2021 Ford Bronco, off-roading fans have been waiting to see how the SUV compares to Jeep Wrangler out where it counts. In a series of tweets, Ford’s North American Product Communications Manager Mike Levine doled out a few new clips of the Bronco driving out on the sand dunes, including one in which it is accompanied by its segment-leading competitor.

Both of the new clips show a two-door Ford Bronco finished in Cyber Orange going out for a spin in the sand. It appears that the SUV is equipped with the optional Sasquatch Package, which brings Beadlock-capable wheels among other major off-roading upgrades. These wheels are a huge advantage when taking a vehicle to the sand dunes, as you generally want to lower your tire pressures dramatically for a wider contact patch in the soft stuff. Bronco owners should have no worries about their 35-inch rubber coming off of the wheels, thanks to this class-exclusive feature.

It is fair to say that the clips aren’t all that exciting, though the first one does do a good job of showing the Bronco bounding over some decent bumps. It also gives us another prod at Jeep, as the Bronco sweeps up the hill only to pass a Wrangler onto the trails. Perhaps the incident was a total coincidence, but it remains a clear message nonetheless.

One thing that the clips do hint at is the fact that the Ford Bronco doesn’t really sound that good. Now it is hard to be certain due to the noisey nature of the clips, but from what we can tell the Bronco is sadly lacking in the sound department. No one has ever accused an EcoBoost of sounding good from the factory, (or in the aftermarket really) but it’s a disappointment regardless.

While the sight of a Ford Bronco out on the dunes just feels right, it is going to take some time before owners get a chance to do the same. Ford’s current estimates say some buyers won’t be taking delivery until mid-2022, meaning it’ll be up to 18 months before they can start to take the SUV off-road.
