If you want an off-road Ford vehicle, the options are nearing endless. Of course, there’s the Ford Bronco on the SUV side, offered as a traditional off-road SUV and a juiced up crossover. Over in the pickup corner, the Ford F-150, Super Duty and Ranger both offer mid-tier Tremor models, while the F-150 has the iconic Raptor. And on top of that, there are a multitude of aftermarket tuners willing to make your Ford product better off-road. But perhaps none of the many aftermarket names associated with Ford have quite the history of Roush, and they’ve been busy testing their 2021 F-150 off-road.

We first saw the wraps come off the 2021 Roush Ford F-150 back in March, and it’s a pretty comprehensive build. Both the styling and performance have been modified and upgraded extensively. Styling is pumped up thanks to new bumpers and grille, and some cool box flares on the fenders. Inside, you’ll also find some special Roush touches.

The capability comes mainly from upgraded suspension and tires. The suspension is Roush’s own 2.0 Performance Series Suspension system, which gives a two inch front leveling lift. Along with the widened front fenders, this allows for larger 33 inch General Grabber A/TX tires. All of this translates to dramatically improved off-road performance, which Roush puts through a complete development process like any OEM would. Check out the process below:

The Roush team really puts their 2021 Ford F-150 through the paces at Bundy Hill off-road park. The terrain lets the engineers throw the tail out on loose dirt, rock crawl and even high speed runs with jumps. It seems very competent in every field.

For $16,745 over a XLT or Lariat 2021 Ford F-150, the Roush F-150 is a very compelling package. You’ll get something more unique than Ford’s factory offerings, backed by intense development testing from one of the biggest names in the game. And of course, you can get it with a V8, which can’t be said for either the F-150 Tremor or Raptor as of now.
