Ford is shaking the ground again with yet another off-road ready truck. A year after the mighty Maverick made it to the stage, Ford has debuted the Tremor variant for the 2023 model year. The 2023 Ford Maverick Tremor seeks to deliver on elevated capabilities beyond the Maverick FX4 package, and does so with a dash of off-road tech currently found in the Ford Bronco Badlands.

Following the success of the 2022 Maverick, Ford is expanding its compact truck lineup with the new 2023 Maverick Tremor Off-Road Package, one of Ford’s hottest products becoming available as the company again begins taking new customer orders for its lineup of in-demand vehicles.

The Most Capable Maverick Yet

The 2023 Ford Maverick Tremor is available for XLT and Lariat series trucks, comes with a punchy 2.0L EcoBoost engine, all-wheel-drive, and a GKN-sourced twin-clutch rear-drive unit with a differential lock. This system, which is standard on the Bronco Badlands, can send virtually all rear axle torque to either wheel. The Maverick Tremor also comes with the GOAT Modes that are also on the Bronco Sport Badlands, which calibrate the truck to optimally take on the sand, mud, snow, rocks, as well as the pavement.

The Ford Maverick Tremor features standard with Trail Control, which operates like a low-speed cruise control for off-road driving. The truck manages throttle and brake, while the driver focuses on the obstacles ahead. Some people seem to like this. Adding to the off-road capabilities are a set of standard all-terrain tires, a unique lower front fascia with a more aggressive approach angle and steel skid plates.

Compared to the rest of the 2023 Maverick lineup, the Tremor features a unique set of front and rear springs and shocks, along with a 1-inch increase in ride height. To keep it Built Ford Tough, the Maverick Tremor also features a heavy-duty transmission cooler and upgraded half-shafts. The maximum tow rating is listed at 2,000 pounds, and payload rating of 1,200 pounds.

2023 Ford Maverick Design

Ford did a good job making sure that the Tremor design cues came through on its latest addition to the family. On the Maverick Tremor we see a unique grille finish, blacked-out Ford logos, as well as smoked out headlamps and taillamps. The two front tow hooks get signature Tremor Orange accents. The package also gets a unique set of 17-inch dark gray finished aluminum wheels with a Tremor Orange insert. The interior sees Black Onyx seats featuring stitched Tremor logos and signature Tremor Orange accents. The center console, register vents and door pulls are updated to include the new color scheme as well.

To stand out further, there’s the available Tremor Appearance Package for the Maverick, which includes a Carbonized Gray-painted roof and mirror caps, as well as black side graphics on the hood and lower body.

The 2023 Ford Maverick Tremor Off-Road Package is priced from $2,995 USD, while the Tremor Appearance Package costs $1,495. Both packages are available for ordering in September. Production for the 2023 Ford Maverick begins this fall.

Muscle Cars & Trucks was founded by Manoli Katakis - an automotive media veteran that has been covering the latest car news since 2009. His journalism has uncovered dozens of major product changes, updates, plans, and cancellations long before automakers were ready to make things official.

Some highlights over the years of his reporting include the uncovering of the Zora trademark before anybody else reported on the coming of a mid-engine Corvette, as well as the dead-accurate reporting of the coming of the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, two years before it hit the market, and even before the debut of the concept vehicle. This type of reporting has immediately continued here, with reports of the original seventh-generation Camaro plans being shelved, as well as what's in store for the Chevrolet Silverado.

Some of his work can be found on massive automotive media outlets, such as Motor1. He also has been a guest on the 910AM Radio Station with Detroit News auto critic Henry Payne, as well as the enthusiast-oriented Camaro Show podcast.

Over the years, Manoli has interviewed various automotive industry titans, leaders, and people that make things happen otherwise. These include figureheads such as GM CEO Mary Barra, GM President Mark Reuss, automotive aftermarket icon Ken Lingenfelter, Dodge firebrand Tim Kuniskis, along with various chief engineers of vehicles such as the Ford F-150 & Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro & Corvette, and many more.

At MC&T, Manoli is taking his journalism expertise, deeply planted sources, driving abilities, and automotive industry knowledge to new levels, covering more vehicles and brands than ever before. This is the place where you will continue to read groundbreaking stories about American performance vehicles, pickup trucks, and sport utility vehicles. Here is where you’ll also read insights and quotes from various automotive subject matter experts on the latest relevant products, as well as some of the latest official news from their manufacturers.

Fun facts: he also once beat Corvette Racing driver Tommy Milner in an autocross with a Chevrolet Bolt EV. The biggest vehicle he’s ever driven is a John Deere mining truck. Besides a go-kart, the smallest vehicle he’s driven has been a Hyundai i10. He’s also spent time in the cockpit of various American performance vehicle icons, including the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, Dodge Challenger Demon, and Ford Mustang GT350R. He has reviewed dozens of trucks, SUVs, and performance vehicles over the years.

One of his favorite new vehicles on the market today happens to be the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison. He is also a card carrying member of the Sports Car Club of America, and regularly participates in Detroit Region autocross events.
