Expect It To Share An EcoBoost V6 With The Bronco Raptor

Last year, Ford teased the EcoBoost V6 growl of a high performance Ranger in the form of a QR code during the reveal of the all-new P703 model. Of course, we’re talking about the 2023 Ranger Raptor, and a new teaser video from Ford of Europe’s YouTube channel reveals the next generation off-road performance truck is on its way and is set to make its official debut on February 22nd, just 11 days from now.

2023 Ford Ranger Raptor: What To Expect

While official details are scarce at the moment, one of the big stories here will be the choice of the engine. The previous version of the Ranger Raptor, which never made it to the U.S. market, sported a 2.0L twin-turbo diesel engine, and was likely too lethargic for North American tastes. This new Ranger Raptor – which is coming to America – will instead feature a 3.0L EcoBoost V6 engine; the same one powering the recently revealed Bronco Raptor.

Some other shared hardware we expect to see on the Ranger Raptor include signature flared fenders, exceptional off-road ability, Fox racing shocks, lifted ride height for added clearance, And 17-inch wheels. The teaser video also gives us a glimpse of the front suspension, which features beefy cast aluminum lower control arms, and some thick dampers. The tires are a set of BF Goodrich KO2 tires – the choice of the F-150 Raptor. The rubbers were expected to be 35-inches in diameter, but we might be settling for 33-inch tires instead, just based on eye-balling it. Unless there’s some sort of Sasquatch Package in the works.

Which might explain the price.

Early indication suggests that the next-gen Ranger Raptor could be priced from $52,489 MSRP, if accurate, that would undercut the Bronco Raptor by $17,506 which has a current selling price of $69,995. As it stands, the Bronco Raptor, 37-inch tires and all, seems to be keeping a lot of that expensive content to itself. Regardless, both the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor and 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor will be built on the same assembly line in Wayne Michigan, with production expected to begin in the second quarter of 2023.
