BUYING A DODGE CHARGER OR CHALLENGER JAILBREAK MODEL COULD BREAK THE BANK

Dodge is on a product blitz for the next two years, which will culminate with the reveal of a fully electric muscle car that hopes to silence skeptics and naysayers as the brand transitions into something very different than what we see today. However, before all of that happens, Dodge has launched Jailbreak editions for both the Charger and Challenger Hellcat Redeye muscle cars.

For a nominal up-charge of $995, Dodge customers can configure, mix and match, and otherwise customize their Challenger and Charger Hellcat Redeye models every wheel design, interior color/trim, and exterior paint color in an effort to create a true one-of-one muscle car. And, if you didn’t trust your creative mind to produce something cool, Dodge offers custom combos created by the design team. On top of that, each Jailbreak model was equipped with some extra power, but now it appears dealers are marking these one of a kind muscle machines up quite a bit. No surprise there.

Mopar Insiders found a window sticker for a 2022 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Jailbreak (one of the pre-designed models by Dodge) for almost six-figures after destination fees ($99,066). The dealer’s website has that Charger listed for $119,066 a $20,000 markup. The base price of the model started out at $74,900. The upgrade in power previously mentioned jumps from 797 to 807 horsepower, so it becomes identical with the Challenger SRT Super Stock output ( a vehicle you can buy for $80,365).

Markups are not exclusive to the Charger however. Mopar Insiders also found a marked up 2022 Challenger SRT Jailbreak. Sticker price for the car sits at $102,550 but the dealer has it priced at $125,550, a markup of $23,000. Original MSRP for it was $63,530.

All in all the idea behind jailbreak was to offer customers an opportunity to own a truly unique and one of a kind muscle car with a bit of extra horsepower. However, with asking prices this high you may want to hang onto your cash and ponder your options. If more power is what you’re after, Dodge rolled out the Direct Connection Catalog earlier this year. Using the catalog, you can beef your Challenger Redeye to 885 horsepower via a couple of minor tweaks utilizing factory parts and warranty. It could save you a couple bucks and boost your power all at the same time, but we’re not trying to tell you what to do.
