While it may have never captured the same sales success as the Corvette, The Dodge Viper is one of the all time great American sports cars and racers. This particular Dodge Viper GTS-R, chassis number 31, is one of the most iconic examples of the V10 monster for anyone who was tuned into motorsports at the dawn of the 21st century. Thanks to the folks at LBI Limited, you now have a chance to own it.

Built by the French at Team ORECA in 1999, this GTS-R would go on to utterly dominate the GTS class in the American Le Mans Series during 2000. The 600+ horsepower racer won seven of the 10 ALMS events it ran, before capturing a class victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. With drivers Dominique Dupuy, Olivier Beretta, and Karl Wendlinger behind the wheel, chassis 31 secured the GTS-R and Chrysler a spot among the all time racing greats. Capping off a three-year streak of domination at Le Mans, the Viper was rivaled only by the Ford GT40 at the time when it came to American success in France. Not bad company to be in by any means.

Race weekends weren’t the only time that this Viper GTS-R was making waves on TV screens. Donning a Playstation sponsorship and livery, this particular GTS-R was forever immortalized in many racing games of the period. These appearances undoubtedly helped to make the GTS-R an icon among a whole new generation of car fans.

After finishing its privateering career in 2005, chassis 31 was acquired by a collector who reportedly spent over half a million dollars to restore the car to its 2000 Le Mans-spec. LBI Limited says that they believe that this is the only Le Mans winning Viper GTS-R that will ever come up for private sale, even though this one is arguably the most famous. While it certainly won’t come cheap, it’s hard to put a price on being able to drive such a legendary Le Mans winner.
