Dr. Richard Foster, who lives less than 100 miles from the prestigious Brickyard has been collecting vehicles for decades, most of which are Corvettes. His personal collection consists of 42 vehicles in total including the 18 he is wanting to pass on to the next avid collector. He houses them all in a private museum that he owns on his property. The collection not only consists of factory built pace cars but IMS-authorized reproductions as well that are all extremely well documented and taken care of. Mecum expects the lot of 18 Corvettes to yield $1.5 to $1.7 million dollars at the auction taking place May 13th through the 21st at the Indiana State Fairgrounds and Dr. Fosters offering (Lot S159) is listed as the main attraction. Dr. Foster’s collection will hit the auction block Saturday May 21st, the last day of the auction. The actual Indy 500 is set to take place about a week later on Sunday May 29th. One note to whoever buys the lot however is that there is a 2022 Corvette Pace Car Replica, not included in the pictures, currently undergoing replica conversion that will not be present at the auction but is part of the sale, It will be shipped to the winning bidder once work is complete.

In total, the collection consists of two Official Pace Cars, eight IMS-authorized replicas and six Corvette Pace Car Editions, four of which are award winning. Mecums Auction website also features a detailed brochure that outlines the details of each vehicle including mileage, engine specs, interior and exterior pictures, as well as a history of the vehicles themselves. Someone might want to alert Rick Hendrick, he seems to be the biggest spender when it comes to Corvettes at auction.
