It’s Far And Away The Most Extreme Ford Bronco Available To Purchase

Ford Bronco DR First Drive

If you have some extra money and have been in the market for a Baja 1000 race-ready truck, then the Ford Bronco DR has undoubtedly been on your radar. But with a price tag of around $295,000, that’s a big purchase. Luckily, Edmunds has you covered as they sent someone out to take the ultimate Ford Bronco for a spin in the desert, and to say this extreme off-road machine will make you forget about all the lesser Broncos may be an understatement.

Ford Bronco DR: Details

Journalist Emme Hall – who’s a multi-time participant and winner of the Rebelle Rally off-road race – got behind the wheel of a Ford Bronco DR, and though she has experience driving buggies through the desert, the Ford Bronco DR is a massive step up from what she’s used to in terms of size, suspension travel, capability, and sheer power. She even stated that she didn’t fully open this beast up during her drive with it because it was beyond her comfort level, which is understandable. However, with a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 under the hood with an untold amount of power that could range from 400 horses to far more attached to a 10R80 transmission with electronic shift on the fly transfer case from the F-150, this thing truly is a beast, just mind the bushes.

Watching Emme Hall drive the limited-production Ford Bronco DR through the desert makes us smile, as it looks like a total blast to drive. With 37-inch BFGoodrich mud-terrain KM3 tires, an approach angle of 47 degrees, a departure angle of 37 degrees, and a break-over angle of 33 degrees. That alone makes for an incredibly capable truck, but with front suspension travel at 15.8 inches and 17.4 inches at the back, you’ll want for nothing. As stated in the video, the DSSV dampers make the Ford Bronco DR a breeze to drive.

If you want a Ford Bronco DR, there are a few catches. The isn’t street legal, but that’s fine as Ford Performance made sure that this race truck sounds spectacular, with none of the DOT or EPA regulations holding it back. The Bronco DR also comes equipped with disc brakes all the way around and independent electronic-locking front and rear differentials. So, there’s plenty to get hyped about if you want to purchase one for your desert racing dreams.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
