Hellcat Barracuda Crash

Stand-up comedy superstar and actor Kevin Hart was involved in a single car accident Sunday night in which he sustained “major back injuries”, according to the California Highway Patrol. Hart was a passenger in his Hellcat-powered pro touring 1970 Plymouth Barracuda at the time of the crash, which was being driven by his friend Jared Black when the car lost control turning onto Mulholland Highway, before rolling down an embankment. While both men suffered back injuries in the major crash, Black’s fiance and Hart’s personal trainer Rebecca Broxterman amazingly walked away from the accident with only minor injuries after being pinned in the backseat.

According to the police report, neither foul play or the influence of alcohol played a role in the crash. TMZ reports that Hart was able to leave the accident and receive medical attention at his nearby residence, before being treated at a nearby hospital. TMZ also caught up with Eniko Hart while she was entering the hospital, who said Kevin was “going to be just fine,” after he underwent surgery.

Rumors surrounding the severity of Hart’s injuries have floated around the internet since the accident on September 1, though claims stating the comedian is paralyzed are totally unsubstantiated at this time. Regardless of how severe the injuries may be, celebrities and fans alike have flocked to social media to wish Hart a speedy and full recovery.

Hart took delivery of the 1970 Plymouth Barracuda back in July to celebrate his 40th birthday. The vintage muscle car was brought into the modern age by the folks at SpeedKore, with modifications including a Hellcat powertrain swap and a full custom interior. The comedian is known for his love of cars, and has quite the collection of American muscle cars in particular.

Accidents do happen, but it is important to respect the consequences of your actions behind the wheel. Whether you’re driving on Mulholland Highway in a Hellcat or cruising your favorite backroad, stay safe out there.
