LAND ROVER DEFENDER 6X6 FEATURES CORVETTE LS3 V8

Just Have About $300,000 Ready

Corvette Powered Defender 6x6

Mercedes Benz changed the definition of an opulent off-roader when they released the G63 AMG 6×6 in early 2013. The $515,000 uber G-Class featured a dual-rear portal axle layout, with allowed for an impressive 18 inches of ground clearance. Under the hood sat the familiar 5.5L twin-turbocharged AMG V8 that produced 536hp and 561 lb-ft of torque, which drove all six wheels via a trick set of differentials. Thanks to a limited production run of only 100 units, G63 AMG 6×6 prices have soared well beyond their half million dollar base price in today’s market. While you might not be able to get your hands on a German 6×6, why not buy this very British Land Rover based 6×6 pickup, with a Corvette-sourced heart.

Listed for sale by Kahn Automobiles, this Chelsea Truck Company Flying Huntsman 6×6 has undergone a dramatic transformation from when it began life as a Land Rover Defender 110. The most substantial change is of course the additional rear axle, as well as the pickup style conversion. Chelsea Truck Company also fitted custom bumpers front and rear, updated lighting surrounds, tubular side steps and 18-inch wheels wrapped in Cooper Discoverer A/T3 Sport tires. Under the hood sits a 6.2L LS3 V8 that produces 430 horsepower, delivering power to all six wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.

Inside is where the Flying Huntsman 6×6 has truly set itself apart from other Defenders, thanks to an extensive use of leather in the cabin. Stylish bucket-style front seats replace the original units, though we aren’t sold on the new three-spoke steering wheel.

The $291,126 price tag is an outright bargain compared to what other 6×6 products are going for right now, though unfortunately this truck won’t be able to come over here to the States. We love the idea of a Corvette-sourced V8 powering a British off-road monster, even if it is on the other side of the Atlantic.
