The all-new P703 Ford Ranger will be sold all over the world. And as such, it’s bound to undergo all sorts of obscure levels of abuse. Like shepherds recovering their astray heard of sheep that made it all the way to a rocky, salty shoreline on the west coast of Crete. Or turning over the miles over an icy road in the Siberian tundra. Perhaps being overloaded beyond its max payload capacities during Argentinian wine harvest season. Or being used as a mining service truck at the horn of Africa. When a vehicle is going to be used in extreme conditions, it’s essential to make sure it can handle everything that’s thrown at it and more. That’s exactly what Ford has been doing for the new 2023 Ford Ranger, which has been showcased in yet another teaser video to build up even more hype for the new truck.
New Ford Ranger Extreme Condition Testing
The next-generation Ford Ranger is expected to be sold in more than 180 markets across the globe, and because of that, it needs to be able to perform exceptionally in a diverse set of conditions. During the development phase, Ford has tested the 2023 Ford Ranger in 6,213 miles (10,000 Kilometers) of desert which Ford claims is equivalent to 776,714 miles (1,250,000 Kilometers) of customer driving. The desert testing is also equivalent to driving the Ranger off-road for 388,357 miles (625,000 Kilometers) at maximum load capacity. Within the deserts, prototypes endured temperatures well over 122 degrees Fahrenheit; some testing even had the vehicle tackle alpine passes while towing within extreme heats.
Ford then took next-generation prototypes to cold environments found within North America and New Zealand to test the vehicle’s stability within freezing temperatures. Computer simulations sped up the development phase as the 2023 Ranger underwent thousands of hours of testing within Ford Motor Company labs. Including a “squeak and rattle” test on the suspension to assess the body’s strength.
The Reveal Could Be Just Weeks Away
Beyond showcasing the extreme testing the new Ranger was put through, no further information was revealed as to when the reveal of the truck will be. Yet reports suggest that the P703 Ford Ranger set to be sold around most of the world will debut soon (the P703N Ford Ranger for the USA/Canada market is likely to debut next year). And with teasers releasing more often, it’s clear we’re only weeks away from the world premiere of the next-generation Ranger. In contrast, North America won’t begin production of the new Ranger until May of 2023.
