If you’re a fan of the legendary Baja 1000 race, then you likely know about the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus Baja Boot. Unfortunately, while the truck has had some incredible success during these challenging races, we don’t really get to see the vehicle in action very much, that is, until SCG posted two separate videos on the Glickenhaus Youtube channel featuring the Baja Boot showing off its stuff.

The first video is just 28 seconds and showcases the SCG Baja Boot rock crawling over some decently challenging boulders. Given that the Baja is an endurance race, it’s essential to take it slow over these challenging obstacles to ensure that the vehicle can finish the race. Meanwhile, the second video is a bit longer at one minute and was recorded back in 2019 and shows the SCG Boot racing in the Baja 1000. The various clips used show the difficulty of the off-road race as the truck races over dirt roads, through puddles, and then on some pavement for a short while before going back into some rolling hills in Mexico.

SCG Baja Boot: The Victorious Dark Horse

During the 2019 edition of the legendary off-road race through the Baja desert, the SCG Boot took a Class 2 victory, handily beating the Ford Bronco R race truck. In 2020 the Boot once again took class honors, beating the Bronco R a second time. For the 2021 edition of the race, SCG stepped up their game and entered into the more challenging Class 1 category. Despite having some axle troubles, the SCG Boot managed to finish in seventh place in the class, which is quite an impressive feat for a truck that is also street legal. In contrast, competitors in this category have unlimited technical regulations. Despite the faster pace and hardship, the SCG Boot was the fastest road-legal vehicle to cross the finish line at the 2021 Baja 1000.

The SCG Boot uses a GM 6.2L LT4 V8 as found in the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 that produces 650 horsepower. The engine is paired with a 4L80E automatic transmission. The entire vehicle rides on 37-inch tires and has 18 inches of suspension travel. As the SCG Boot is street legal, it can be driven pretty much anywhere, and for a small sum of $258,000, you can purchase one for your adventures.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
