WL JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2-ROW, 4XE VARIANTS TO COME LATER IN 2021

Could Trailhawk And SRT Trackhawk Models Follow?

Well folks, after 10 long years, we finally have a new Jeep Grand Cherokee. Only, it isn’t a direct replacement for the outgoing WK2 generation, as the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L adds length to become a three row SUV. If you’ve been holding out for a new WL Jeep Grand Cherokee with two rows, fear not, as it’s still coming, but you’ll have to wait until late 2021 to get it. Around that time, a 4xe plug in hybrid model will also follow. Here’s what you need to know about the future of the next generation Grand Cherokee.

The three row Jeep Grand Cherokee L will go on sale spring 2021, and we will have to wait until later this year for the two row version, coming as a 2022 model year. In the meantime, the familiar WK2 generation two row Grand Cherokee will solider on for one final year alongside the L. We don’t yet have pricing information, but there’s a good chance the new model will be more expensive than the outgoing model, especially at higher trim levels, while the outgoing model will have some good discounts in its final run at the same time. However, the 2022 Grand Cherokee two row will be such an improvement that it’ll probably be worth the wait.

A 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L 4xe plug in hybrid will also come in late 2021 with the new generation. Jeep has previously stated its intentions to be the “greenest” SUV brand, and this means rolling their 4xe hybrid system out to as many vehicles as possible. After the Wrangler, an all-new family SUV is the next logical step. As in the Wrangler, it will combine a gas motor with a battery pack and motor to deliver a great balance of performance and efficiency, with some electric only driving range.

By late 2021, expect there to be a 2021/2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee two-door, three-row Grand Cherokee L, and 4xe model of each, according to Car and Driver.

After this, it’s expected that more specialized variants, like the off-road oriented Trailhawk and the visceral SRT Trackhawk models will join the lineup later on. Jeep has neither confirmed nor denied they are in the pipeline, but they have a loyal following, and even conquest from the supercar segment. We can see the two row model getting the either the SRT treatment or Trailhawk treatment once the next generation Jeep Grand Cherokee establishes itself in 2021.
